Jambi Corruption Court data shows that the court dealt with only six cases in 2011. The number surged to 49 cases in 2012.
Nineteen of the cases were submitted by the regency and provincial level prosecutor's offices.
'In 2012, of the 49 corruption cases being tried, defendant Arfandi received the stiffest sentence of six years in a graft case on the fraudulent use funds from the Merangin regency budget,' said Jambi District Court spokesman Paluko Hutagalung on Thursday.
In 2013, the number of graft cases tried was lower than in 2012, which was just 44 cases.
'The stiffest sentence of five years was handed down to AM Firdaus, who was convicted of embezzling scouting movement funds between 2009 and 2011.
In 2014, the corruption court tried fewer corruption cases, numbering only 36 cases.
