EDAN: Three journalists were shot on Sunday while they were covering news on the arrest of a suspected thief who fled into a drug and gambling den in Kubur village, Madras Hulu subdistrict, Medan Petisah district, Medan, North Sumatra.
They were shot at by an unidentified person, believed to be a resident of Kubur village, with an airsoft gun. Fortunately, the three journalists managed to flee from the gambling den.
The journalists have been identified as Nicolas Saragih, 24, Fahrizal, 25, and Arifin, 24. They are being treated at the Bhayangkara Police Hospital in Medan for gunshot wounds. Nicolas was shot in the forehead and cheek, Fahrizal in the neck and Arifin in the chin.
North Sumatra Police chief spokesman Sr. Comr. Helfi Assegaf said the police immediately moved to pursue the perpetrator but had yet to arrest anyone.
