AKARTA: Platoon-sized girl band JKT48, a sister group to Japan-based AKB48, has been nominated for an Anugerah Dangdut Indonesia 2015 award for their dangdut performance in the single 'Halloween Night'.
Four members of JKT48 ' Sendy, Naomi, Tike and Cikarina ' sing the single with a touch of dangdut melody, the popular music genre that is partly derived from Indian and Arabic music.
MNCTV program and production director Endah Hari Utari, who is in charge of the award, said the girl band was nominated for the Sahabat Dangdut Terpopuler (Most Popular Dangdut Friend) award, which recognizes the participation of non-dangdut musicians in the genre. 'The four JKT48 members often sing dangdut songs on our programs,' Endah was quoted by tribunnews.com on Thursday.
The winners will be announced on Dec. 17.
