he Bali Police have arrested a Malaysian national, Tee Kok King, for smuggling 22.73 grams of methamphetamine hidden in coffee and honey sachets.
A joint team from the Bali Police and Denpasar Customs and Excise Office apprehended Tee alias Ayung alias Polo, 48, at the Amaris Hotel on Jl. Teuku Umar Denpasar, on Wednesday last week, shortly after the suspect arrived at the hotel to check in.
'The suspect had a large number of coffee sachets in his bag. It appears he hid the narcotics in the sachets,' Bali Police investigator Adj. Sr. Comr. Joni Lay told a press conference on Monday.
According to Joni, the officers noticed something suspicious in Tee's bag as it went through a X-ray machine. Tee had arrived at Ngurah Rai International Airport on Malaysia Airlines flight MH 0853 from Kuala Lumpur.
Officers followed the suspect and arrested him at the hotel. 'We thought he'd lead us to a drug transaction, but he didn't, so we took him in instead,' he explained.
