ALIKPAPAN: Police on Friday deployed a dog from the K-9 unit of the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) to search for three victims buried in a landslide at a coal mining site owned by PT Lembuswana Perkasa in Bukit Merdeka subdistrict, Kutai Kartanegara regency, East Kalimantan.

'€œWe have been working since yesterday. Smeagle [the dog] has been sniffing at several points,'€ said K-9 unit chief Brig. Budi Supardi.

The points indicated by Smeagle were corroborated by the testimony of two survivors of Thursday'€™s landslide, Abdurrahman, 50, an excavator operator, and Nasir, also 50, a truck driver.

The three being looked for are excavator operator Syahnur, 27, bulldozer operator Nasiran, 40, and truck driver Novi 32, who were buried along with the heavy equipment and the truck.
