A

t least six tenements and one food kiosk on Jl. Bojong Indah Raya, Pondok Kelapa in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta were destroyed by a fire on Monday at around 1.30 p.m. One resident Sainem, 60, reportedly died in the fire.

The fire was allegedly caused by an electrical short circuit at the victim'€™s house. The victim, who was a sufferer of paralysis, was alone at the time of the incident.

'€œShe couldn'€™t save herself due to her physical limitations,'€ said head of neighborhood unit 10/6 Erik Rahadian as quoted by beritajakarta.com.

The victim lived with her grandchildren Devin, 27 and Honi, 18, both of whom were at their respective workplaces when the fire occurred.

'€œIt'€™s been four years that embah [grandmother] has suffered from paralysis. We live together in the rented house,'€ said Devin.

Five fire trucks were deployed and the fire was extinguished at around 2 p.m.
