akarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama has been summoned by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for questioning on April 12 about alleged irregularities in the procurement of land in West Jakarta.

The city administration plans to develop the city-owned Sumber Waras cancer hospital on the land. Ahok was reported by the City Council to the KPK in August 2015 in connection with a land procurement process that, according to the Supreme Court Agency (BPK), caused potential state losses.

“I will come for questioning. I’ve been summoned by Bareskrim (National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department), the BPK and the KPK. It means my career is healthy,” Ahok said to journalists at City Hall on Friday.

In the audit of the city administration's 2014 financial report, the BPK found a suspicious case of land procurement worth Rp 755.69 billion (US$55.9 million). The agency suspected a corrupt markup in the procurement process had occurred because the market price was only about Rp 564 billion.

Ahok stressed that there was nothing wrong with the process because everything had passed through the right procedures.

Ahok said that next Tuesday’s questioning session would not discuss corruption in Jakarta’s reclamation projects.

In connection with the reclamation cases, the KPK has questioned several city administration officials, including Jakarta Financial and Asset Management Agency head Heru Budi Hartono, who is also Ahok’s gubernatorial running mate, and Development Planning Board (Bappeda) head Tuty Kusumawati.
