span style="line-height: 0.18in;">The Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) expects the government to immediately issue the revision of Presidential Decree No.12/2015 on the Asian Games.
KOI chairman Erick Thohir said that matters regulated by the decree included the establishment of the organizing committee, which was necessary to continue preparations for the quadrennial sporting event.
“We already have our to-do list here, but we cannot move forward unless we have the decree in our hands,” media mogul Erick told a press conference ahead of the 4th KOI coordination meeting in Bali on Tuesday.
The meeting will also discuss technical matters, such as broadcasting rights and marketing strategies
Erick said it was time [for the government] to issue the revised version, as that would be among the questions asked by the Olympics Council of Asia (OCA).
He also listed other items on the agenda, ranging from building an organizing team to hiring and determining venues, which would involve private parties.
Meanwhile, Youth and Sports Ministry spokesman Gatot S Dewobroto acknowledged that he was in the dark regarding the revised decree.
“We cannot [give any exact information] regarding the issuance,” he said.
Presidential Decree No.12/2015 on Asian Games is being revised due to the absence of any mention of the Asian Youth Games in the decree. The Wednesday meeting is slated to discuss sport disciplines to be performed at the Asian Youth Games. (dmr)
