Greater Jakarta: Salary cut for civil servants playing Pokémon

G

overnor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama has warned civil servants not to play the current mobile-game phenomenon, Pokémon Go, at City Hall during working hours, unless they do not mind if the administration cuts their performance allowances.

The warning was made with consideration that the game would likely hinder civil servants from performing at a high level or finishing their tasks.

“It is not about the Pokémon Go. […] We cannot ban people from playing it. However, if they play the game, will they be able to perform well and finish their work?” said Ahok on Thursday at City Hall.

However, he disagrees with the view that playing Pokémon Go could be used to spy on the administration’s internal issues as stated by Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Yuddy Chrisnandi.

Yuddy issued a letter banning anyone in ministry offices from playing the game.
