Indonesian siblings who drive for the Riser ShaDaff racing team, Barrichello and Sergio Noor secured pole positions at two different karting competitions in Jakarta and Shah Alam, Malaysia, on Sunday. Barrichello, the elder brother, led the senior class at the prestigious X30 Malaysia Challenge held at the Shah Alam circuit, while Sergio secured pole position at the Eshark Rok Cup in Jakarta.

During the practice session, Sergio had to struggle his way ahead of close contenders Makaiyo Wimble and Muhammad Rasya, eventually proving himself to earn pole. Meanwhile, Barrichello defeated Malaysia’s top driver Calvin Wong to qualify in first position.

Commenting on the siblings’ success, Garuda Indonesia’s Jakarta regional vice president Dony Widojoko, among the team’s main sponsors, said he was proud and encouraged the young drivers to keep up the good work. He said the company would also consider opening new business opportunities in countries where the siblings competed in.

“You have made Indonesia proud,” he said in a statement sent to The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.
