he parent company of entertainment channel ANTV, news channel tvOne and news website Viva.co.id has reported strong growth in the first half of the year.
In a release made available to The Jakarta Post on Thursday, publicly listed Visi Media Asia (VIVA) reported revenue of Rp1.2 trillion (US$91 million), up 9.6 percent year-on-year (yoy) and handily beating estimated industry growth of 3.8 percent. The strong performance was mainly attributed to ANTV, which saw its revenue in the first half rise by 14.6 percent yoy to Rp 858 billion.
VIVA also booked a 13.9 percent yoy increase in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) to Rp 409 billion.
CEO Anindya N. Bakrie said the EBITDA margin has also increased to 33.5 percent compared to 32.3 percent in the first half of last year.
"We are targeting to lift the EBITDA margin to the average level in the media industry."
Starting this year ANTV aired Indian drama soaps that jacked up viewer rating, while tvOne ran home production One Pride; a program on Indonesian martial art athletes.
Viva.co.id recorded a high number of hits after launching new mobile applications with video features. (bby/dmr)
