vt. First Class Wahyudi, who was found dead on burned land in Labuhan Tangga Besar village, regency of Rokan Hilir, will be posthumously promoted in honor of his actions.
He will be buried in his hometown of Magetan, East Java.
Military Command 031/Wirabima chief Brig. Gen. Nurendi, who is also chief of the Riau Forest Fire Emergency Task Force, said the promotion was given because Wahyudi died on assignment.
“The fight against forest fires is an honorable duty. It is correct to say he died on assignment,” he said at a ceremony for the departure of Wahyudi’s body at Sultan Syarif Kasim Airport in Pekanbaru on Wednesday.
Aside from Nurendi, Riau Governor Arsyadjuliandi Rachman and Rokan Hilir Regent Suyatno also attended the ceremony.
On behalf of the Riau people and the 031/Wirabima military command, Nurendi extended condolences to Wahyudi’s family.
