ore than 800 street vendors around Fatahillah Museum in Kota Tua, West Jakarta, will soon be relocated to Jl. Cengkeh in Taman Sari by the Jakarta Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Agency.
The agency’s head, Irwandi, said the main reason for the relocation was because the vendors were an eyesore.
“Four-hundred-and-fifteen of the vendors are members of the Kota Tua Street Vendors Cooperation [Pena Waskata], while the rest are unlisted,” Irwandi said as quoted by beritajakarta.com on Friday.
He said the vendors would occupy around 1.2 hectares at the new site.
“We are sure that Kota Tua will look neater and be more comfortable for visitors after the vendors are relocated,” Irwandi said.
