he Tax Office will be opening tax amnesty service counters at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) building in Jakarta. The service will open on Sunday until the end of this month.
The office will open 28 counters to provide end-to-end services to the taxpayers.
“We expect an influx [of submissions and declarations] in the next two weeks as we heard that many businesses, including the big ones, plan to come to join the tax amnesty program,” the office’s spokesperson Hestu Yoga said on Tuesday.
Hestu attributed the influx to the deadline of the first period of the tax amnesty that would end on Sep. 30. After the deadline, those who are willing to repatriate or declare their assets would double to 4 percent and 8 percent in the next periods.
Currently, the tax office has received Rp 1 quadrillion (US$76.1 billion) in declared assets, of which Rp 250 trillion came from overseas, while Rp 700 trillion came from within the country. The number of repatriated assets reached Rp 55 trillion and mostly came from Singapore. (dmr)
