ity-owned bus management company PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) has begun to promote its plan to give free travel entitlements on Transjakarta buses to more people.
In addition to the holders of Jakarta Smart Cards (KJP), the free cards will be issued for people with disabilities and the elderly, veterans, holders of social protection cards (KPS) and residents of the Thousand Islands regency.
As a legal basis for issuing the cards, Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama has signed Gubernatorial Regulation No 160/2016, Transjakarta president director Budi Kaliwono said in Jakarta on Thursday as reported by kompas.com.
People can apply for the cards at a number of bus stops – Glodok, Kalideres, Pasar Pulogadung, Matraman 1, Kampung Melayu, Ragunan, PGC 2, Duri Kepa, Slipi Petamburan and Tanjung Priok – from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m, Budi added.
To apply for the cards, residents are required to show their ID cards and phone numbers and have their photograph taken by Transjakarta officers.
The registration period will start on Oct. 17 and the cards will be valid starting from Nov. 1, he added. (bbn)
