akarta’s wage council has submitted all its proposals for the 2017 provincial minimum wage (UMP) to Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama on Wednesday, leaving the final say up to the governor.
"We have submitted all three proposals to the governor to be determined for the 2017 minimum wage," a council member representing employers, Sarman Simanjorang, said on Wednesday.
The three proposals Sarman was referring to include a 23 percent wage increase of the current wage to Rp 3.83 million (US$294.3) as recommended by the labor union and two similar proposals each supported by representatives from employers and the administration of a 8.25 percent hike to Rp 3.35 million.
Sarman hoped Ahok would have enough time to make a decision on the minimum wage before the latter takes his leave for the gubernatorial election campaign.
According to Sarman, the council representatives failed to reach a consensus on the proposed new wage for 2017. (dmr)
