he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Friday summonsed Ratu Rita, the wife of former Constitutional Court chief Akil Mochtar, and Buton deputy regent La Bakry in connection with a bribery case related to the Buton election dispute.
“They were both questioned as witnesses in a graft case implicating the Buton regent [Samsu Umar Abdul Samiun],” KPK spokesman Yuyuk Andriati said.
The KPK has named Samsu a suspect in the case.
Samsu has been charged with giving Akil a Rp 1 billion (US$76,449) bribe in 2012 to rig the result of the Buton election.
Akil, now serving a life sentence, is believed to have accepted bribes in connection to election disputes in several regions while he was serving as Constitutional Court chief.
