tate-owned railway firm KAI aims to increase its revenue by 7.7 percent to Rp 19.49 trillion (US$1.46 billion) this year from last year.
To achieve the target, the firm will maximize its freight transport business to include rail freight transport for coal in South Sumatra, KAI president director Edi Sukmoro said.
“We hope the realization of our rail freight service in South Sumatra will be quite big,” he said during a visit to Cikampek, Karawang, West Java, on Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.
In addition, the firm will also boost its freight train service between Gedebage Station in Bandung, West Java and Tanjung Priok Port in North Jakarta, Edi added.

At present, the firm runs 560 train stations nationwide. It operates 470 locomotives, 1,618 passenger trains and 7,061 rail freight trains. (lnd)
