India’s Minister of State for External Affairs Gen. (ret) Vijay Kumar Singh met with leaders of the Indian community in Indonesia at the residence of the Indian Ambassador to Indonesia Nengcha Lhouvum in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The leaders explained to the minister about their activities, ranging from business and social matters to Bollywood movies, in Indonesia.
The minister was accompanied by Preeti Saran, the Secretary (East) for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, and India’s Ambassador to ASEAN Suresh K. Reddy.
Minister Singh visited Indonesia to attend the 2nd International Conference on ASEAN-India Cultural and Civilizational Links in Jakarta.
Besides meeting Indian community leaders, V.K. Singh also met with several Indonesian leaders, including Vice President Jusuf Kalla, to discuss matters related to strengthening the bilateral relations between both countries.
“We discussed several matters, especially follow up actions to the agreements reached during the successful visit of President Joko Widodo to India recently,” Singh told journalists after meeting with Kalla.
India and Indonesia are old friends and maritime neighbors.
