The two officials are Papalang sub-district head Muliadi and Muhammad Ibrahim, head of the governmental division at the Mamuju regency administration.

They were charged with taking part in the campaign of West Sulawesi gubernatorial candidate pair Suhardi Duka - Kalma Katta in violation of Article 71 of the 2016 Law on election crimes.

Even though they were found guilty, they were not dismissed from their current positions.

Administrative sanctions, Saleh said, would be handled by the Home Ministry. West Sulawesi Bawaslu has sent a letter in regard to the matter, he added.

Besides the two officials, the North Mamuju sub-district head also allegedly campaigned for a candidate pair. The dossier of the case has been submitted to the North Mamuju prosecutor’s office.

As of Monday, Saleh said, there were 69 cases of election violations. In Mamuju itself, there were 25 cases. Most of the cases involved civil servants. (trw)
