bout 250 victims of a fire on Jl. Kramat 3, Kwitang, Senen, Central Jakarta have received instant food, blankets and mattresses from the Jakarta Social Agency, an official said in a release on Wednesday.
“We have built shelters and distributed food to the victims. There will be more assistance to come,” the agency head, Susana Budi Susilowati, said.
The fire broke out early on Wednesday morning destroying as many as 40 houses occupied by about 250 residents. The fire, reportedly caused by a short circuit, also left four people injured.
Susana added that the agency had also deployed counselors to assist the victims. “We are coordinating with local officials to provide more supplies to the victims." (dmr)
