T

he Indonesian Under-22 soccer team is set to face Myanmar in a friendly match on March 21 at Pakansari Stadium in Cibinong, Bogor, West Java.

The friendly bout is part of the host team’s preparations for the 2017 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games biennial multisport event, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur in August, the Soccer Association of Indonesia (PSSI) said in a statement.

For the match, Indonesia’s manager, Luis Milla, has summoned 26 players, who were selected during three sessions of the national selection program.

The 26 potential players for the young Garuda squad are defender Hansamu Yama of Barito Putera club, midfielder Evan Dimas of Bhayangkara FC and Hariyadi of Persib Bandung, as well as striker Ahmad Nur Hardianto of Persela Lamongan.

Hansamu and Evan helped the senior Garuda team finish as a finalist in the 2016 Southeast Asian-level AFF Cup. Indonesia lost 3-2 on aggregate against Thailand in the final round of the tournament.

The 2017 President’s Cup pre-season tournament champion Arema FC will also possibly have representatives in the national squad through defender Bagas Adi Nugroho and midfielders Hanif Abdurrauf Sjahbandi and Nasir.
