n international exhibition is expected to come up with technological solutions to increase the capacity of the food and beverage industry and boost economic growth in ASEAN countries.
Food Ingredients Asia 2017 (Fi Asia 2017) will be held for the 22nd time from Sept. 13 to 15 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC), after being held in Jakarta last year.
Acting as the organizer of the event, UBM Asia, which is the Asian arm of UK-based UBM Plc., has prepared a new concept called "Thai 4.0", which focuses on scientific and technological breakthroughs.
"What makes the difference in the event this time is a competition on innovation for start-up companies. We want to encourage small and medium enterprises to start innovating," Rungphech Chitanuwat, ASEAN project group director at UBM Asia's Thailand office, said on Wednesday in Ayutthaya, Thailand.
The event was expected to help food scientists play a role in product development, thus adding value to the industry, said Darunee Edwards, an advisory board member of the Food Science and Technology Association of Thailand (FoSTAT).
More than 750 companies from 56 countries will join the event to showcase food ingredients as well as technology and innovation for the food and beverage industry.
More than 17,000 business representatives are expected to attend at the event. (bbn)
