The Indonesia Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) on Thursday organized its annual general meeting called the “ICCC Annual Networking Luncheon & General Meeting 2017” at the Mercantile Athletic Club in Jakarta.
In this meeting, which featured Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia Peter MacArthur and Millie Stephanie from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) as main speakers, the ICCC elected a new executive board with Vivien Kusumowardhani as chairperson , Gregory A. Elms as vice chairperson, Tony Costa as treasurer and Edwin Pieroelie as secretary general .
Vivien is the president commissioner of PT Sun Life Financial Indonesia.
In his keynote address, Ambassador MacArthur commended the role of Canadian companies, businesspeople and the ICCC in fostering economic relations between Indonesia and Canada.
“Our bilateral trade with Indonesia reached C$3,1 billion last year. Indonesia is a G20 economy, which offers many opportunities,” Mac Arthur said.
Keeping in view the importance of Indonesia, the largest economy in Southeast Asia, Canadian government is adding resources to the Canadian Embassy in Jakarta.
Many Canadian firms, Mac Arthur said, had a presence in Indonesia and directly employed tens of thousands of Indonesians. He welcomed recent investments from Indonesian companies in Canada.
According to vice chairperson Elms, the ICCC has been very active in organizing events to raise funds for charity programs.
