he police have found no spent bullets or empty shell casings following a reported shooting attack on the house of Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) politician Jazuli Juwaini in Ciputat, Banten.

“They weren’t found,” said Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono as quoted by Antara in Jakarta on Friday.

He said personnel from the South Tangerang Police and a team from the National Police’s Forensic Laboratory Center (Puslabfor) had conducted an examination of the scene.

Investigators suspected a hole in the window of a bedroom in Jazuli’s house resulted from a shooting but they could not yet confirm the type of weapon used by the perpetrator of the incident.

Argo said the police were still waiting for results of the examination conducted by the Puslabfor team.

The Puslabfor team has collected data on the angle of the shooting and will later analyze the data to determine the shooting distance and weapon the perpetrator may have used.

Investigators have questioned eight witnesses, including Jazuli’s wife, two relatives, a security guard and four household assistants.

Jazuli, the head of the PKS faction at the House of Representatives, said earlier that an unidentified person shot at his house on Wednesday evening.

He said the shot hit the window of his children’s bedroom but fortunately it was empty at the time so no one was injured.

Jazuli said he knew of no motive for the shooting and was leaving the police to investigate the incident. (rdi/ebf)
