ersonnel from the Central Java Police’s narcotics investigation directorate have arrested two former drug convicts who previously completed sentences at Kedungpane Penitentiary in Semarang, Central Java.

The police allegedly found 919.5 grams of sabu-sabu (crystal methamphetamine) at a boarding house where one of the suspects lived. The suspects, Yongki BS, 42, a resident of Kebon Agung, East Semarang, and Doni alias Sinyo, 30, a resident of Sompok, South Semarang, had allegedly sent a kilogram of crystal meth to Pasuruan, East Java.

“The police first arrested Yongki at a hotel in Semarang on Saturday. We knew about the drug distribution from information from the public. The police found 1.5 grams of crystal meth on him,” Central Java Police chief Insp. Gen. Condro Kirono said in Semarang on Thursday.

“The police later brought him to his boarding house in Malangsari, Tlogosari, Semarang, where they found 915 grams of crystal meth."

Condro said the police later arrested Yongki’s friend, Doni, who lived in Sompok, Semarang. They allegedly found 3 grams of crystal meth on him.

“The two suspects claimed they got the crystal meth from Jakarta. We are still coordinating to see whether or not this case is related to a recently discovered attempt to smuggle one ton of crystal meth in Anyer, Banten. We strongly suspect this case involves an international network,” Condro said. (yon/ebf)
