he East Jakarta Police have named a woman identified as Sugiarti a suspect of placing fake orders using ride-hailing apps Go-Food that resulted in another person, Julianto Sudrajat, paying millions of rupiah for meals he did not order.
The police’s crimes unit head, Adj. Sr. Comr. Sapta M Marpaung, said Sugiarti was a suspect of defamation as regulated under the Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) Law in line with a report filed by Julianto.
“Julianto’s report is related to defamation through Facebook, while the fake food order is a different matter,” Sapta said Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.
Sugiarti claimed on Facebook page that Julianto had impregnated her and stole her money. Sugiarti and Julianto knew each other through Facebook.
Sugiarti has not been arrested despite her suspect status because she was cooperative during police questioning and her identity and residence are clear.
As a result of the alleged fictitious orders, Julianto had to pay for the food delivered to his address, which cost him millions of rupiah.
The fake food order issue went viral on social media last month. (wnd)
