joint search and rescue team has found five more survivors from a fishing boat that recently capsized in waters around Sitaro Islands in North Sulawesi.
The five crew members were found on Wednesday morning, three days after the fishing vessel KM Baku Sayang 03 carrying 23 crew members sank in waters about 116 kilometers from North Sulawesi’s capital of Manado after being hit by large waves.
A total of 16 crew members have been found so far following the success of the Wednesday search operation that involved the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the police, the military and local fishermen.

As of Wednesday, the team was still searching for the remaining seven crew members missing in the accident.
“We will prolong the search to seven days if we don’t find the remaining crew members,” Manado search and rescue team chief Budi Cahyadi said.
At least nine boats were used during the operation on Wednesday. (bbs)
