he Transportation Ministry has introduced three acting directors general at a press conference after the resignation, the dismissal and the arrest of former top officials in the ministry.

"I will hold the position until a definitive director general is appointed. Currently, the ministry is in the process of selecting the definitive directors general," Umiyatun Hayati Triastuti said during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday.

Umiyatun was appointed as acting railway director general on Aug. 24, the same day Bay Mokhamad Hasani was appointed sea transportation director general.

On Aug. 16, land transportation directorate secretary Hindro Surahmat was appointed acting land transportation director general.

Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi removed Prasetyo Boeditjahjono from his position as railway director general on July 21.

On Aug. 18, Pudji Hartanto Iskandar retired early from the land transportation director general position, while Antonius Tonny Budiono was removed from his position as sea transportation director general after Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators arrested him on Aug. 23. (bbn)
