T

he badly burned body of an elderly man was found dead in a plantation in Bogor, West Java, on Saturday. It appears that the victim was burning trash at the time of his death.

Bogor Disaster Mitigation Agency’s emergency and logistics head Sumardi said on Tuesday that the accident began when 70-year-old Karim set fire to trash and the fire spread to other people’s plantations.

“We think that the man tried to extinguish the blaze but then he became exhausted and collapsed,” said Sumardi as quoted on wartakota.tribunnews.com.

Karim’s son-in-law went looking for him at 4:30 p.m. and discovered the body of Karim with burns to his face and body. (syl)
