he government will soon revoke the Jakarta administration’s sanction that halted the construction of man-made islets C and D in the controversial Jakarta Bay reclamation project last year.
Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar said her ministry was going to revoke the sanction placed on PT Kapuk Naga Indah (KNI), a subsidiary of Agung Sedayu Group, a property developer. KNI is in charge of the construction of islets C and D.
“We are preparing a decree on the sanction revocation this week and it will be issued sometime next week,” Siti said after a coordination meeting at the Office of the Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The meeting was also attended by Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat, Jakarta Development Planning Board head Tuty Kusumawati, Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Luhut Pandjaitan, Agrarian and Spatial Planning Minister Sofyan Djalil and National Development Planning Board head Bambang Brodjonegoro.
During the meeting, the officials verified the environment impact analysis (Amdal) for islets C and D delivered by KNI to the Environment and Forestry Ministry in August following the minister’s order to renew them.
