he West Jakarta Tourism and Culture Agency’s plan to hold art performances on the stage at Taman Intan shopping and culinary park to attract visitors may be hindered by budgetary issues.
The agency head, Linda Erniany, said her predecessor had returned the funds allocated for activities on Jl. Cengkeh in Taman Sari, West Jakarta, to the city’s coffers to be included in the revised 2017 budget, as he was afraid he could not use all of the allocated funds.
She said the budget for the art performances could be disbursed once the revised budget was approved.
“We have arranged performances by Gambang Keromong [a Betawi musical ensemble] and a single organ musician but we have not yet been able to realize our plans because we do not have the budget for them yet,” she said as quoted by kompas.com.
Linda had first announced the art performances, which are intended to liven up the atmosphere at Taman Intan and help vendors attract customers, in September. She said the sub-agency would cooperate with art and dance studios to hold performances on the stage.
