“We will ensure that people can celebrate Christmas in peace,” he said, noting that the deployment would be concentrated at churches and other venues used as a house of worship on Christmas Day.
The police will begin the operation, the Lilin Candi Operation, on Dec. 22.
Among the 2,800 churches in 35 regencies and municipalities in Central Java, 180 churches have a more stringent security detail in place. (vla/dmr)
