drugstore in East Bekasi ran a lucrative business by allegedly selling drugs to students and minors, police have said.
East Bekasi Police chief Comr. Agung Iswanto said the police arrested on Saturday suspects AY, NI and M, who were alleged to have earned a profit of Rp 2.2 million per day from the illicit business practice.
Agung said the suspects admitted to running the business for three years.
"M was the manager and supplier, while AY and NI handled the customers," said Agung as quoted by kompas.com on Wednesday.
The drugs sold ranged from tramadol, sold for Rp 10,000 for three tablets, to excimer, sold for Rp 20,000 per tablet, to alprazolam, sold for Rp 30,000 for five tablets.
"M received the drugs from someone named Herman, who could not be contacted and is now a fugitive," said Agung.
The suspects were charged under Article 197 of Law 36/2009 on health, which is connected to Article 55 of the Criminal Code, and face a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. (jlm)
