The Sarolangun Police arrested two people and confiscated 10 kilograms of marijuana during a drug raid on Sunday.
Sarolangun Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Dadan Wira Laksana said the two suspects, identified by their initials, HM bin F and S bin K, were arrested in separate locations at around 2 p.m. on Sunday.
HM bin F was apprehended in Ladang Panjang village in Sarolangun district, while S bin K was arrested in Pulau Lintang village in Bathin VIII district.
“Their arrests began from information received from Indonesian Military personnel by members of a law enforcement operation team, codenamed Operation Antik, at the Sarolangun Police. Operation Antik personnel, led by members of the police’s narcotics division, and supported by Pauh village supervisory non-commissioned officers [Babinsa], later investigated the information, which led to the arrest of HM bin F,” said Dadan on Monday.
The suspect was carrying a sack when the police apprehended him. Witnessed by local residents, the police opened the sack and found four large packages of dried marijuana leaves, seeds and stems.
The officers expanded their investigation by searching the residence of S bin K. In the house, they found one big bag containing six more large packages, which contained more contraband.
“The officers took the two suspects and all evidence to the Sarolangun Police for further investigation,” said Dadan. The evidence included 10 packages of marijuana, which weighed 10 kg in total. The two perpetrators are charged under articles 114 and 111 of Law No. 35/2009 on narcotics. (ebf)
