Three-year-old Khori Apriyanti broke her leg in an escalator accident at a mall in Bengkulu on Saturday.

Khori was with her mother and a group of her mother’s friends, according to witnesses. They were reportedly going down the escalator when the incident occurred.

“The toddler was at her mother’s right side, they were holding hands. But suddenly the child’s foot got caught in the escalator,” the mall’s security officer, Wijaya, told kompas.com.

The mother cried for help and a nearby shopkeeper rushed over to turn off the device.

Several security guards were able to dislodge Khori’s foot and she was rushed to the Bengkulu Regional Hospital. (vla)
