ity-owned developer PD Sarana Jaya Pembangunan, which is in charge of the construction of a sky bridge in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, has said that it will first use its own funds to finance the project, before receiving financial aid from the city’s revised budget.

“We are ready. We will use our internal funds first,” Sarana Jaya Pembangunan president director Yoory C. Pinontoan said on Monday, as quoted by tempo.co.

The Jakarta administration is planning to build a sky bridge over Jl. Jatibaru Raya, located in front of Tanah Abang Train Station in Central Jakarta, with a fund of Rp 50 billion (US$3.5 million). The bridge is set to connect the train station with all blocks of the Tanah Abang Market, the largest textile center in Southeast Asia.

Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno said previously that the project would be built with funds from this year’s revised budget, which is expected to be passed in August. Meanwhile, he expressed hope the construction could commence in June.

“If I were the president director of Sarana Jaya, I would use other sources of funding first, as I have already got certainty on the funding from the administration,” Sandiaga said. (vny/wit)
