he National Police have arrested four suspected terrorists in a number of locations in Bandung, West Java and in Central Java on Tuesday.
“The four are suspected of being affiliated with IS [Islamic State] group cells,” police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Syahar Diantono said on Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com.
The four suspected terrorists, identified only as R, MN, F and FT, allegedly communicated with terrorist groups via the Telegram application, an encrypted instant messaging service that has become a favored medium of communication for terrorist organizations to spread propaganda and recruit members.
The National Police’s Densus 88 counterterrorism squad is now digging deeper to obtain information from the four suspects.
The police have ramped up pursuing terror suspects after the deadly Surabaya bombings last month.
