he Bekasi administration in West Java is set to deploy officers from the local fire and rescue agency to catch a group of wild monkeys that recently roamed around the Pondok Mitra Lestari housing complex in Jatiasih and reportedly attacked residents.
Bekasi Agriculture and Fisheries Agency head Satia Sriwijaya said over the weekend that at least three wild monkeys were seen roaming around the residential area and disturbing people. Two security officers at the housing complex, identified as Abdul Azis and Daya, were reportedly attacked by the animals. Both Abdul and Daya suffered wounds that needed to be stitched.
“The fire and rescue agency is responsible for catching the monkeys, just like other wild animals that enter settlement areas like snakes and so on,” Satia said as quoted by tempo.co. Satia added that animals had a tendency to attack people if they felt they were being disturbed.
“Animals also attack when they are hungry,” he said. (vny/dmr)
