he Jakarta Transportation Agency shortened on Tuesday a route impacted by the odd-even license plate policy in Pondok Indah, South Jakarta. The decision was based on an impact assessment of the recently extended traffic policy.
“The 6.69-kilometer route in Pondok Indah has been shortened to 3.85 km,” the transportation agency’s deputy chief, Sigit Wijatmoko, said as quoted by kompas.com on Tuesday.
The route, which initially began at the intersection between Jl RA Kartini and the Metro Pondok Indah traffic circle, and the main intersection connecting the Pondok Indah, Bungur, Gandaria City and Kebayoran Lama areas, is now limited to the Pondok Indah intersection.
“We decided to focus the odd-even policy on the main route along Metro Pondok Indah,” he said.
Meanwhile, the agency may also alter an affected route on Jl. Benyamin Sueb in Central Jakarta. The restriction initially started from the Gempol intersection and extended to the Kemayoran tollgate, but the route may be shortened to start at the Jl. Angkasa intersection and extend to the Kemayoran tollgate.
A trial period for the new odd-even policy commenced on July 2 and will last until July 31. It is in effect from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week, in anticipation for this year’s Asian Games. The traffic policy will officially be applied on Aug. 1.
