Indonesian creates pixel animation of Childish Gambino’s ‘This is America’ using old Macintosh PCs
Indonesian animator Wahyu “Pinot” Ichwandardi has created an animated version of Childish Gambino’s “This is America” music video using Macintosh computers from the 1980s.
The artist told The Jakarta Post via email that he began by drawing using old MacPaint software during Ramadhan.
“In the beginning, I drew New York City,” he said.
“At that time, the ‘This is America’ video went viral and it caught my children’s attention. However, the video is not for children [as] it contains a political message,” he said.
‘Language is my ultimate weapon’: Ivan Lanin
Meeting Ivan Lanin, who has been dubbed an Indonesian language evengelist, was a whole lot of fun. The Jakarta-born linguist is indeed an insightful person regarding the Indonesian language, especially its vocabulary.
“Do you know what terjun lenting is?” Ivan suddenly asked during an interview with The Jakarta Post. After no one was able to provide him with an answer, he smiled, “It means bungee jumping.”
Through his social media accounts, especially Twitter, Ivan has enlightened many netizens on how to properly use Indonesian, such as how to write their birth date on a cover letter, write an email address in Indonesian and the equivalent word for an English term.
Operation to destroy modern items conducted in Baduy village
An operation to destroy all modern items has been conducted in remote parts of Lebak regency in Banten, which is home to the Baduy tribe.
“The customary operation was conducted over the past week by visiting each home,” said one of the locals, Santa, 45, on Thursday as quoted by Antara.
The Baduy tribe has to adhere to customary laws that ban the use of modern items, including motorcycles and four-wheel vehicles.
