T Bank Maybank Indonesia on Wednesday launched MySaveR, a savings account with health insurance benefits, in partnership with PT Allianz Life Indonesia.

MysaveR offers 100 percent savings with deposit limits from Rp 100 million (US$6,926) to Rp 1 billion with additional health insurance benefits covering medicines, diagnosis, immunization and hospitalization in 800 hospitals in Indonesia, said Maybank financial advisor Aidil Akbar Madjid.

He stressed that the customers were not required to pay any monthly premium.

Maybank community financial services director Jenny Wiriyanto said the savings accounts would also act as an investment and receive a 7 percent interest rate annually.

With the new product, she added, Maybank hoped it could increase the number of saving accounts by 15 percent, next year.

Citing World Health Organization data, she said medical costs had grown 36 percent in the last 10 years. “By joining this program, customers’ funds will be protected; they receive savings interest and it eases the burden of medical costs.” Jenny said. (acr/bbn)
