The family of Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Wiranto is in mourning after the death of the minister's 16-month-old grandson Achmad Daniyal Alfatih, after he slipped into a fishpond at their house in Kebayoran, South Jakarta, on Thursday.

Daniyal was the youngest of seven children of Lia Wiranto, Wiranto's daughter.

Wiranto said he had heard the news when he was in Singapore accompanying President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo during the 33rd ASEAN Summit. He immediately flew home to Jakarta.

"He was playing at the fishpond, he slipped and did not get help in time," Wiranto said as quoted by tribunnews.com on Friday.

The family buried Daniyal in Karanganyar, Central Java.

Daniyal's father, Abdi Setiawan, said he had an omen before his son died. The morning before the accident, he was flying at 3 a.m. to Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi. Abdi said he had fallen asleep and he dreamed he was in the sea, swimming. While he was enjoying the swim, some sea creature bit him. But he swam to the shore and looked back to the sea but what he saw was a land with beautiful buildings on it.

When he arrived in Kendari, he called his wife and told her about the dream, which he thought was amusing. At noon he heard the news. "That moment, I realized God would take what he had entrusted to me," he said.

He said his son jumped into the pond while no one was paying attention. (evi)
