Kompas.com reported on Monday that the semi-permanent houses were slanting by 15 degrees.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said on Monday that he had received a report on the matter. “I will have to check the situation first. So far, based on a report from the Pademangan district head, six families have been affected and they have been relocated.”
The incident occurred on a bank that was previously affected by erosion and had therefore been restored by the Water Resources Agency.
However, Anies said, the efforts carried out by the agency may have been flawed.
“It will be part of an evaluation for the agency to be more thorough, particularly because the rivers there do not have strong walls,” Anies said at City Hall on Monday, as reported by tribunjakarta.com.
