With the new feature, the lender hopes that customers can enjoy faster and more efficient transactions without the need to visit bank branches.
ndonesia’s biggest private lender Bank Central Asia (BCA) is targeting 1 million new customers through its newly launched features that enable customers to open bank accounts simply by using their mobile phones.
With the new feature, the lender hopes that customers can enjoy faster and more efficient transactions without the need to visit bank branches.
“Our purpose is to expand our customer base because critical mass is very important for our business,” said Jahja Setiaatmadja, BCA president director in Jakarta.
To open a new bank account, a customer can download the BCA mobile application and upload the required documents such e-ID cards. They will then be connected with customer services through video call, who will verify the data.
After everything is set, the customer can deposit cash through transfer or by going to the nearest bank branch without the need to use an ATM card.
Currently, digital transactions constitute 98 percent of all transactions at BCA, as many customers have shifted from using branches to conducting transactions online.
Besides BCA, other banks have also offered the same services, enabling customers to open a new bank account online, such as state-owned bank Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) through its mobile app BRImo. (bbn)
