The partnership also aims to drive responsible investment in fixed income and build a sustainable environmental, social and governance (ESG) ecosystem in the region.
The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and global asset manager Aberdeen Standard Investment have inked a strategic partnership to help develop debt capital markets for infrastructure in Asia’s emerging economies.
The partnership also aims to drive responsible investment in fixed income and build a sustainable environmental, social and governance (ESG) ecosystem in the region.
With the partnership, AIIB and the United Kingdom-based asset management company will work closely for the launch of a “sustainable capital markets initiative”.
“So far, debt capital markets have played a small role in infrastructure development projects,” AIIB vice president for policy and strategy Joachim von Amsberg said at a media briefing on Friday.
Joachim said he hoped such initiative would make it easier for companies to raise funds for infrastructure development.
