A councilor suggested the Jakarta Housing and Settlement Agency involve university students or fresh graduates, rather than use the services of consultants, to cut the budget.
ouncilors have criticized the Jakarta administration’s proposed budget ceiling for kampung renewal next year, saying it is excessive.
As part of the efforts to improve the quality of life in slum areas, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan proffered a series of programs, namely the Community Action Plan (CAP), the Collaborative Implementation Program (CIP) and the Monitoring Evaluation Program, to give residents the opportunity to confer with the administration to find solutions to their housing issues.
The administration has called for tenders from consultants who want to handle the programs.
Anies instructed the Jakarta Housing and Settlement Agency to focus on arrangements for 200 community units (RW) from 2018 to 2021.
The city administration aims to implement the CAP for 69 RWs in 2018, 88 RWs this year and 43 RWs next year. The remaining RWs are to have similar programs implemented the following year.
The CAP reports are to then be issued on the CIP and are expected for 12 RWs in 2018, 58 RWs this year, 88 RWs next year and 42 RWs in 2021.
During the deliberations over the priorities for the 2020 draft budget and ceiling (KUA-PPAS), the housing and settlement agency proposed a budget ceiling for the CAP at about Rp 556 million (US$39,163) per RW. That amount is similar to what was in this year’s budget, which ranged from Rp 400 million to Rp 600 million per community unit, according to the apbd.jakarta.go.id website.
