andeh is not yet on the radar of many travel enthusiasts, even though it is referred to as Sumatra’s version of Raja Ampat.
However, all eyes will be on Mandeh with the upcoming Wonderful Mandeh Festival (FPM), which will be held on the southern coast of West Sumatra from May 4–7.

Preparations are 98% completed for the event, which aims to attract 20,000 local and foreign visitors, including community representatives, stakeholders, tourism industry practitioners and about 60 travel agencies.
There will be a planned 50 food stalls during the 4-day festivities, as well as a culinary festival, a rabab festival and an underwater photo competition.

“There’ll also be the Mandeh Joy Sailing, among other activities,” said the Tourism Ministry’s deputy minister in charge of marketing development, Esthy Reko Astuti.
“On May 5, there’s going to be a parade of 250 traditional boats designed in various styles and colors sailing around the Mandeh area,” added the head of the West Sumatra tourism development acceleration team, Raseno Arya. (asw)
