onderful Indonesia Culinary and Shopping Festival (WICSF) 2017 is currently being held in 18 cities and 12 provinces throughout Indonesia. The opening of this event was held on the World Tourism Day, Sept. 27 and the event will end on Oct. 27.

WICSF 2017 is a collaborative effort between Indonesian Shopping Center Management Association (APPBI) and the tourism ministry. Highlighting the theme "Savor the Captivating Flavor & Big Discounts", the event is expected to develop and explore the traditional culture and culinary.

A total of 100 shopping malls located in North Sumatra, South Sumatra, Pekanbaru, Banten, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, East Kalimantan, South Sulawesi and West Sulawesi are taking part in the festivity.

“For one full month, visitors can enjoy a variety of local dishes and discounts,” told the ministry's culinary and shopping tourism acceleration team head, Vita Datau Messakh.

“In the future, together with tourism associations such as The Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) we will come up with several programs. We hope that through WICSF 2017, the amount of visitors and transactions made could increase around 20 percent,” said DPP APBI head, Stefanus Ridwan. (asw)
