ravel and lifestyle platform Traveloka has initiated a program that allows users to make donations to provide safe hotel rooms for medical workers.
The rooms are for medical workers employed at two COVID-19 referral hospitals in Jakarta. Users can participate in the program by visiting the Traveloka app and selecting the donation amount, which start at Rp 50,000 (US$3.53).
Entitled Berbagi Kebaikan bersama Traveloka Accommodation (Sharing Kindness with Traveloka Accommodation), the program is a collaboration between Traveloka and hotel network Zuri Hospitality Management under the charity platform Traveloka Tanggap.
“Hopefully the program can be a platform for people, especially our users, to help medical personnel who fight the disease on the frontlines,” John Safenson, vice president of market management accommodation at Traveloka, said in a statement.

Health protocols have been implemented in the hotels based on recommendations from the government and the World Health Organization (WHO). The protocols include that the hotels' staff must wear face masks and gloves; temperature checks for staff and customers; hand sanitizer be provided in various points within the hotel; routine disinfection; and maintaining a minimum distance of 1 meter between guests and staff.
Aside from providing accommodation, users can also purchase gift vouchers until June 30 via the Traveloka app to help hotels maintain their business amid the outbreak.
Traveloka has also teamed up with various organizations and companies through Traveloka Tanggap to help flatten the curve of COVID-19 transmission, including by distributing thousands of N-95 face masks to passengers of international flights at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang alongside state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II and distributing dozens of protective gear items for the medical staff at Udayana University hospital in Bali.
